Spoke at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture about Prince
Like Cynthia Erivo says in her book Simply More: “What’s the dream that you don’t even know you have?”
Speaking at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library, during its centennial about Prince was one of De Angela’s.
She was honored to speak at the Schomburg on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, alongside the brilliant ethnomusicologist Fredara Mareva Hadley (Juilliard) and moderated by Schomburg Curatorial Specialist Daniella Brito.
We were in conversation about Prince, following a screening of Prince and The Revolution: Live, as part of the Schomburg’s Black on Screen: A Century of Radical Visual Culture centennial series.
This was the first time De Angela has spoken at the Schomburg, which makes it especially meaningful to her.
